Robert E. Graham's Everyday Supernatural

A good telepathic receiver is a good listener. Good telepathic receivers put their ego aside. Then you'll realize that some thoughts in your head originated elsewhere. It's arrogant to assume that every thought you have originated in your own mind.

Maybe half your thoughts are original, and most of those are just your mind chatting to itself. Another quarter of them comes from the mind chatter of others. Another twenty percent come from the environment. Such as what your car is thinking. Cars do think. They have feelings. So do houses and chairs. The final 3 percent comes from your friends as genuine telepathic messages. Keep an open, uncluttered mind and you'll learn something. The figures I've used here are just educated guesses.

Telepathy is an art and can only be learned with practice. With a little experience you'll know which friend is contacting you. Each person has a distinct mental signature.

I can tell when my friend Donna is thinking about me. Her signature is near panic. Where is he? Why can't I find him? I need to talk to him now. Why doesn't he answer his phone? A friend in the business has a neat phrase for it. She calls it banging on my head. It can go on for days. That kind of message comes when the person is thinking of calling you.

Another friend’s code is like a gentle tap on the front door. As if she were afraid to disturb me. It's a soft whisper like a summer breeze.

Then there's Kay. Her mental note is the pounding of a brass door knocker in a horror movie. The woman has wattage.

The signatures of your friends will match their personality. A soft gentle person will send soft gentle messages. That's why you need to be alert to hear them. The super senders and strong senders you can't miss. It's hard to get out of the way of their thoughts.

Oh! That 1 percent you thought I forgot. That’s the still small voice of your guardian angel. You have to be a really good listener to hear that one.
